Rams Mental Health Initiative

Rams to tackle Black Dog in 2020/21 season.

A big part of why we get involved in local sport is that it gives us the opportunity to escape from the day to day, allows us to “switch off” for a few hours a week, hang out with friends, as well as providing physical activity that is so important to general and mental health.

Agree with or not, the current environment has robbed us of that, but it hasn’t robbed us of the feeling of community that being involved with NBC brings. I can’t count the number of messages and phone calls from teammates over the past six months, purely just as a check-in, making sure myself and family are doing okay.

Thankfully we are, but for others, inside and outside the Club, it’s been difficult off-season. Now, more than ever, it’s important to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of mental health issues, and let people know “Its Okay, not to be Okay”.

So, during the coming Season, we are aiming to hold a Mental Health Round for this very purpose. The idea being, the entire playing group will wear black hats and black tops in recognition of “The Black Dog”, that is depression.

As a lead up to this, we are going to be offering a limited run of black on black NBC hats and pre-game tops. A proportion of these sales will be donated to mental health charities. And will be available to pre-order later this week, for players, families, and supporters alike.

NBC PLAYERS NOTE: These Caps and Tees are by no means compulsory items. For those that do not want to or cannot purchase, a loan plain black cap and t-shirt will be provided by the Club for that round.
