MEN’S ONES written by Jared Berman

Rams took the early led scoring one in the first and then tacking on a second run in the third to give the always reliable starter, David Asp, a lead to pitch with. Asp threw five strong innings surrendering zero runs on five hits and striking out one. Werribee tied the game up in the top of the 6th with the Rams regaining the lead in the bottom of the 7th off the bat of Mason Wray with a double to drive in a run. The Rams weren’t able to fend off Werribee allowing them to score 6 runs in the 8th to take a 5 run lead. In the bottom of the 9th, the Rams began to mount a comeback but ran out of outs before the task could be achieved. The Rams tallied nine hits in the game with Scot Malthouse and Mason Wray leading the way with multiple hit games. It was a tough loss for the Rams who will need to regroup and show up looking to take a win from Doncaster on Thursday at the Melbourne baseball stadium.

An understrength Rams struggled to keep pace with the Doncaster Dragons at Deep Creek Reserve going down 13-3. With a number of players out, Morgan Doty took to the hill looking to dominate the Dragons hitting line up and limit the damage they could do.

The Rams don’t have to wait long for redemption with back to back games against the dragons in the girls first Home Game of the season this Saturday.

WOMEN’S TWOS written by Dean Anglin

After victory in game 1 our Women’s Twos had a bit of a reality check in game two losing to Melbourne 22-1. Young starter Mackenzie Prentice-Evans took to the hill for the second straight week but had some trouble finding the zone issuing 8 walks in her 2 innings of work. With the bat, only 3 hits were recorded, with singles to Pure Foster and Rebecca Asp and a double to starter Mackenzie.

The girls will bounce back one Saturday with their very first home game against Doncaster.

MEN’S THREES written by Ayden Ham

Newport Rams Thirds defeated Werribee 17-3. A 5 spot in the bottom of the first and a 7 spot in the bottom of the 2nd got us off to a great start! 10 of the 12 hitters registered at least 1 hit, with Sean Pengelly leading the way going 3-3 with a walk and 3 innings for 1 hit and 8ks! Nathan Blakemore with a ground rule double in his first game in the 3rds! Noah Darcy with a solid innings of relief to get out of a bases loaded none out Jam! And first time to ever throw a baseball off a mound, Kevin Johnson finished off the game with an impressive 1 inning for 3 strikeouts!

MEN’S FOURS written by Sam Aldenhoven

Werribee forfeited the 4’s before the weekend.

MEN’S FIFTHS written by Roland Stott

5s played Essendon Bombers. Brian Anderson toiled hard on the mound and did not issue a walk and managed 3 strikeouts in his 4 innings, the Bombers also scored 13 runs. The 5s had 5 hits and 4 walks in 5 inning but only managed to score 1 run, for a 13-1 loss by 10 run rule after 5 innings. But the 1 run is worth a mention. Sam Aldenhoven got a walk with 2 out. Tim Thiel got a hit to CF, with Sam pounding up the line to 2nd, the initial call in the field was 3rd to keep the ball in front of the runner until they realised they had a chance at 2nd and Sam just made it. Then Daniel Coucerio hit a towering double over CF, through the cones and Sam strolled home for our only run. In Sam's next bat he hit a line drive to centrefield. The young centrefielder had not been instructed in the ettiquette of Div 4 and made a good pick up and pivot and proceded to throw Sam out at 1st.
