Welcome Shiori Hoshino

The Newport Rams are excited to welcome Shiori Hoshino to the club.

Shiori joins us from the Townsville Baseball Club where she has played for the last 7 ½ years, having just ended the season with an ERA of 0.317. Her addition to our women’s program will strengthen us both on the mound and in defence.

Having grown up in Japan, Shiori started playing baseball when she was 12 with the boys, then moved to boarding school to play with girls at a higher level, she moved to Townsville aged 18 and has represented Queensland at the Women’s National Championships twice in 2019 and 2022.

Shiori will arrive in Melbourne on Wednesday night and will be at training Thursday night to meet her new club. Shiori comes with glowing references both on and off the field from the President of the Townsville Taipans whom she has been living with during her time in Townsville. She was recently made a Life Member of the Townsville Baseball Club.

If you see her around the club, please make her feel welcome as she moves from one family orientated club to another.

Shiori’s first game will be against the Doncaster Dragons on Saturday at Doncaster.
