Women's Baseball

The Newport Rams Women's Program strives to create an engaging and welcoming atmosphere for all players, of any age or skill level to enjoy and further their passion for baseball. Following a triumphant 2022/23 season, which saw the program expand to three teams and our Ones win the Division Two Championship, we are set to enter three teams this summer, in all Women’s Divisions.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Having re-established a women’s program in the summer of 2020/2021 we have strived for the goal have having three teams and a place for all players to find a home. Our initial year saw us with a team in Division 1 and Division 3. The following year we made the tough decision to remove our Division 1 team and place them in Division 2 to help develop our young list. After two seasons in Division 2, we were rewarded for that decision, with a well earned premiership and the growth of our program seeing the entry of a third team.

As a club we strive to deliver a baseball experience for all. Whether you play for Australia, are an emerging talent of the game or just looking for a fun way to make new friends, learn new skills and stay active, we aim to deliver a program flexible enough to cater for all. Our program has athletes from 13 to 50+, all connected through the love of sport.

We are fortunate to have some amazing players within our club already. Current and former Australian Emerald’s Morgan Doty & Leslie Anglin, 2023 State Team Representatives, Ruby Dale (Vic), Shiori Hoshino (Qld), Kira Jansen (NSW Combined), Mackenzie Prentice-Evans (Vic Youth) and recently announced Saeko Suzuki (Japanese international player). These players provide an amazing group to learn from and play with on a weekly basis.

HEAR WHY SOME OF OUR PLAYERS PLAY BASEBALL

Claire Costa

I play to better myself and become a leader beside great teammates and great people and the laughs after the games between teams are always great too.

Prue Foster

After watching my children play baseball I have learnt to love the game. Playing team sports at any age has so many benefits. I play baseball because of the social aspect, good for my fitness and mental health, and most importantly the fun!!

Nikky Hogan

It's a sport that relies a lot more on skill and strategy than just athleticism. It's also super friendly and supportive; ball players love the game and just want to share the love!

Rebecca Asp

I play baseball for the challenge, laughter, skill development, empowerment, inspiration from others and fabulous company! It is so awesome to see strong women in action hitting and throwing a ball.
