Rams Welcome David Tongue

NBC is excited to welcome David Tongue as our non-national player for the 2022/23 season. It has been a few years since we have had an "import" with the impacts of Covid on our international borders, so it is great to be able to welcome David.

David is a Canadian pitcher who attended college in Colorado and more recently has been playing in Europe. This will be David's first trip to Australia and he is really excited to be joining the Rams and getting the opportunity to enjoy Melbourne and see a bit of Australia.

For those not aware of what a non-national player is; NBC is able to sponsor a player to come out to play for us from another country, usually the US, but in the past we have had guys come out from Canada and also Europe. Under league rules clubs are only allowed to have 1 non-national player in their senior team. A non-national player not only bolsters our playing group on-field, but also becomes part of the club more broadly, they provide an opportunity for our players to learn from them and find out more about baseball more broadly, including college pathways for our younger guys and girls, as well as overseas opportunities in baseball. David will also be involved in coaching our junior players so it is a great opportunity to benefit and learn from his experience and knowledge.

David will arrive in a couple of weeks so please make him feel welcome and show him what being part of the Rams family is all about, invite him for dinner and soak up his wealth of knowledge, he's a great guy who has been recommended to us by Jimmy Jensen (previous non-national) and we are excited to have him join us. Part of sponsoring a non-national player also means providing accommodation for him with host families or other options, if you can assist with this in any way please let someone know.

Welcome David and Lets Go Rams
